Lee - Managing Director

We’re thrilled to introduce you to Lee Fretwell, Managing director of The Fume Cupboard Company Ltd.

About Me

Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply immersed in the construction of laboratory and chemical extraction systems. From setting up small prep rooms in schools to overseeing the completion of extensive new builds with multiple labs and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems, I’ve been involved in every phase—from the initial design to the final commissioning and handover to clients.

I started the company off with one of my working colleagues in 2018 with some savings and a bucket full of knowledge the company has moved from strength to strength increasing in size from year to year we feel our combined knowledge of nearly 100years of working in laboratory’s, Food manufacturers and chemical plants, One of our favourite parts is install a small project for a start up company and then following them through their own growth Cortex being one of these.

Its not one particular item is the way people perceive the item installed that greatly interests me. From a simple LEV hood over a small working area” why is it not working?” is normally the question. When you show the client a smoke test and its not containing the smoke then a small adjustment to bring it closer or angle the hood better then all of a sudden from little extract to full containment its like a small miracle. This is why its so important to train the users after installation.
